Some facts on obesity:

  1. Over 50% of Americans are overweight.
  2. There is an overweight problem worldwide because of higher income countries and urbanization.
  3. Obesity can lead to chronic diseases.
  4. "Over-nutrition" is the driving force behind CAD (coronary artery disease)
  5. Some attribute obesity to: decreased energy expenditure; cheap super-sized food; and lack of time.


Some health problems linked to obesity are: diabetes mellitus, hypertension, coronary artery disease, coronary vascular disease, sleep apnea, gall bladder disease, osteoarthritis, hernias, and vaircose veins, and pregnancy complications.

However, there is a decreased rick of osteoporosis.
