Welcome to my webpage on Nutrition.
This page is being created because I am a sophomore nursing major at the
University of South Carolina, and feel that it is imperative to practice good
nutritional skills.
At this site, you will learn about the basic food pyramid, the do's and don'ts
of dieting, and information about eating disorders like anorexia, bulimia, and
the binge eating disorder.
Let's define Nutrition and Nutritious.
- Nutrition
- according to Webster's Dictionay, is the process by which a living
being takes in food and uses it to live and grow.
- Nutritious.
- according to Webster's Dictionary, is nourishing and healthy.
AHA!!!!!!!!
These two defintions tells us that the key to good nutrition is to eat
nutritious foods. We could eat chips and dip everynight, and that would be
considered nutrition. However, if we ate rice and carrots and a piece of baked
chicken, that would be considered a more healthy (or nutritous) source of
nutrition.
What does good nutrition do?
Good nutrition keeps people healthy, delays the
onset of chronic disease, and keeps your immune system strong.
