BINGE EATING DISORDER
Binge eating disorder is the newest eating disorder being researched.
It has just been defined as an eating disorder. There is not as much information on
this disorder as there are on the others.
Here are some characteristics of Binge Eating Disorder:
- compulsion to eat, usually at night and the compulsion lasts about an hour
- in one sitting, one can consume 1000 or more calories
- what they eat are: high in fat, high in sugar, and low fiber foods
Some side effects are:
- bloating
- headache
- naseau
- pain
- vomitting
- abnormal heart rhythms
- esophageal irritation
- and erosion of teeth
Some treatment methods are:
- self-help
- diet counseling
- antidepressant drugs because the person may be
- and out-patient counseling.
